Descrizione

G418 disulfate is an aminoglycoside that is toxic to bacteria, yeast, protozoans and helminths. It prevents protein synthesis by blocking the elongation step in prokaryotic and eukaryotic ribosomes. It is used as a selection agent for G418 resistant bacteria or fungi after transformation.

This Thermo Scientific Chemicals brand product was originally part of the Alfa Aesar product portfolio. Some documentation and label information may refer to the legacy brand. General description
• G418 sulfate (geneticin) is an aminoglycoside antibiotic isolated from Micromonospora rhodorangea
• G418 is a bacteriostatic that prevents polypeptide formation by inhibiting the elongation step of polypeptide synthesis
Applications
• G418 sulfate can be used for selection of genetically engineered cells in both eukaryotes and prokaryotes
• Laboratory grade for applications such as biochemistry
